I feel like something left over from the older generation with all these young people. Why oh why couldn't I have made it here before now. But the prospect of such a trip then was inconceivable by all my friends & me. So I am constantly amazed.

Yesterday was in Lipps (the very best place) & became involved in very amusing yet rather serious circumstances of another young'un -a Swedish girl & 3 male companions - all French but speaking Eng. for her benefit. At this point - after very fun evening in country place - about 20 kilo. from Paris - of the one man - have a friend by name of Michel. Short, blond, very sweet & serious & affectionate philosopher - 22. We had a couple beers this afternoon - meeting at Deux Magots with respective copies of "Le Monde". "N Y Times" - walked acros Pont des Arts, thru Louvre square - to Palais Royale - the square inside which he showed me - quite beautiful. Impossible to say what will come of this but continue to bemoan my age - as well as bad French. For the latter I do manage by some miracle to make myself understood.
