it's possible to relax & go more slowly - London helped that a lot. And some little bit of work will do it. This city felt so strange and formidable at first and now it seems quite comfortable. And every inch of it seems to prove that life at least has possibilities of graciousness and constant expression of feelings - animation, for here that's all it is. It's rather amusing to compare with London - as the Marine in the London Embassy "nothing ever happens here. (The building there I liked. Seen from across Grosvenor Square, it seemed to be a fitting & lyrical continuum of the lines of buildings on either side of square - continuing the bottom floor line [[image]] that caps the street floor of old buildings and also the window lines of upper stories. Up close, of course, it is more like a (Marine:) "futuristic monstrosity" - but not really. Eagle isn't even objectionable - but I wish he hadn't used concrete blocks for a terrace - what's happened to grass & trees. Over use of gilt around the place.)
