4 execs will help S.A expo

Four local executives will offer their expertise in preparing the Expo de San Antonio for Mexico City in February.

Mel Casas, chairman of the San Antonio College art department, is serving as the consulting curator of several art exhibits which will travel to Mexico during the exposition.

Celso I. Martinez, editor of publications for City Public Services, is helping the Expo staff by providing information on how to deal with the media and public.

Dr. Frank Pino, director or the foreign languages department at the University of Texas at San Antonio, is coordinating the translations of the exhibit text from English to Spanish to assure the exhibits are understood by the Mexican Audiences.

Belle San Miguel, cultural arts coordinator for the San Antonio School District, is overseeing the performing art portion of the Expo by assisting the staff with necessary arrangements for the auditioning, selecting and transporting local talent.

Expo de San Antonio is an art cultural and educational fair held in Mexico City Feb. 9-28.

San Antonio, the first non-Mexican entity and the first municipality to participate in the Expo series sponsored by the Institute of the Americas, was invited to participate by Mexico's first lady Carmen Lopez Portillo when she visited Alamo city last year during the tour of the Mexico City Philharmonic.

The executives are on loan by their employers and other firms have set aside funds and personnel to word on exhibits, audio-visual programs, seminars, and symposia to be presented during the exposition.
