Dear Jack and Lee:

Sorry that I did not get a chance to say good-bye to you before I left East Hampton, but I left somewhat abruptly, and was in no moon to extend gracious persiflage -----

I will assume that you are in preparation for your trip to Europe. Herewith are extended my best wishes for an exhilarating and adventurous journey. I will demand a complete. report when I next see you.

My stay at this address will probably be extremely short, since I find little mentality and less virtue in the associations that clutter up the landscape. Not, of course, that it greatly differs from other scenes of my remembrance.

So back to work, and again, all the best,
