Dear Clyff:
Forgive my neglectfulness, but it was not through disregard. The art world has been unusually active, not in sales but in controversy.

Your exhibition, as you probably heard, was very handsome, although from a practical point of view there were too many big pictures the same size. Much admiration from some people and many blanks from others. The stretchers were very flimsy. I sent some of your paintings back to Mark's and kept three, one of which was in the Group Show.

The Kootz "Irrascible [[Irascible]] 18" show has fallen by the wayside. I never approved the whole idea. It was too commercial for it's purpose and the gallery much too small. However, I think something much better is brewing.

Ad Reinhardt leaves tomorrow for your country and will bring you news about all this. Please try to come to New York soon!

Best to you.
