A Slow Walk to Greatness: The Harold Washington Story
In 1993, the DuSable Museum expanded its facility with the addition of a new wing named after the 42nd mayor of Chicago - Harold Lee Washington. His election was one of Chicago's most notable events. Using items from the Museum's permanent collection, A Slow Walk to Greatness: the Harold Washington Story incorporates photos, artifacts, documents, reproductions, archival audio and video footage to celebrate the man and tell his story.

EVERYWHERE with Roy Lewis
EVERYWHERE with Roy Lewis is a testament to his unique contribution to African American photography and history. Roy Lewis' masterful eye for documentation through photography has informed and inspired people nationwide for over 50 years. His lens has focused on world leaders, artists and poets as well as everyday people. Lewis' talent lies in his ability to do more that just capture an image; he has the uncanny ability to tell an engaging visual story

Level B - Phenomenal Woman 
The Art of Margaret Burroughs
Margaret Taylor-Burroughs (November 11, 1917 - November 21, 2010) was a prominent African American artist and writer and founder of the DuSable Museum of African American History. Dr. Burroughs was a prolific writer, with her efforts directed toward the exploration of the Black experience and to children, especially to their appreciated of their cultural identity and to their introduction and growing awareness of art.

Charles Smith: Homecoming
The exhibition Charles Smith: Homecoming was inspired by a visit from Dr. Smith the founder and director of the African American Heritage Museum and Black Veterans Archive. 

With a selection of sculptures created by Dr. Smith the exhibition celebrates the energy, will, and talent of a single man of commitment. The aim of the exhibition is not only to entice visitors to this exhibition to further explore the works of Dr. Smith by visiting the African American Heritage Museum and Black Veterans Archive in Aurora, Illinois, but to expose audiences to a rich legacy of folk art in midwest.
