see the planned town, with curving tree-lined streets, parks, community house, theatre, and with forethough [[forethought]] given to transportation. The houses are made of good materials and are built for permanence. The costs of upkeep are minor. The factor of high interest rates is removed, and therefore the rents are low. The occupant has not been made the victim of misleading sales schemes. 

3. In contrast to the hazards to which children are exposed in cities, we see here the town which is planned to provide for children. They have playgrounds, tennis courts, swimming pools, the most modern schools. Underpasses protect them from traffic. They have fresh milk and vegetables from nearby farms. They have open air, sunlight and ample space for play. 

4. We have seen the dingy company houses of the mill towns. Here in the greenbelt town we see how a planned community can accommodate the same group of people with modern homes. Here the worker is not at the mercy of his employer. Here he will be less affected by the vicissitudes or changes in policy of any single industry. Here he will live apart from the smoke and soot of factories, and yet will enjoy the benefits of work and wages.
