WE ARE THE PEOPLE

We propose to make a film, the subject matter of which will be people - people whose lives must be devoted to the struggle against two basic social ills; unemployment and bad housing - people against a background of littered city streets, of dark tenement flats, of children going to work to help pay for such flats, of crowded dirty living tenement fires, evictions - people against a background of rural impoverishment, of bare sterile land, tenancy, bad houses, sickness - people breathing the air of the stockyards, the soot of the steel mills - people imbued with the psychology of insecurity - the fear of old age, fear for their children, fear of disease and homelessness.

Against this panorama of insecurity and meagre living will be built modern Greenbelt community through the stages of planning and construction to the completed project. A rapid dramatization of the growth of the project will show thousands of men employed, masses of materials, additional
