COPIES TO
SUBJECT Outline for Film History of Greenbelt
GPO 16-4291

This is a preliminary script for the proposed Greenbelt film showing the important phases of planning and building. Mr. Gilfond tells me that technically we are limited to 1200 feet of film. This limitation, as is often the case, may aid us in obtaining a more concise and effective picture. I have tried in the following outline to prepare a rough script that moves swiftly from subject to subject but that is based on a logical sequence.

1. Research. Charts and graphs. The inception of the program. A new town is born in a million-dollar mansion (group in staff room).

2. Site is chosen:
shot of Washington housing (slums and row houses)
shot of submarginal slums (Miller House, Jaeger)
shot of burnt-over land (Crabbe)
shot of erosion (Doyle, Turner)
shot of poor recreation facilities at Branchville school
shot of road rash-ribbon development on Baltimore Pike
shot of Research Center as norther boundary
shot of Regional Plan of National Resources Board, showing Project location

3. Approval of Land Purchase. (Dr. Tugwell's signature on memorandum)
