Mme. Darthea Speyer,
6 Rue Jacques Callot,
Paris 6eme, France.

Dear Mme. Speyer,

In January 1968, Colette Roberts, then my dealer at Grand Central Moderns, gave me a letter to read which you had written to her (I have enclosed a copy in this letter). I was most pleased with your reaction to my work, and since that time have wanted to write to you to thank you for your remarks and to acquaint you further with my new work, but many things intervened. A teaching job at the Rhode Island School of Design seemed to take a great deal of time, and in addition I was trying to get started again on the New York scene after the closing of Grand Central Moderns.

Please accept this belated thank you.

Through the kindness of dear Colette (I was with her in Paris this past August before she died) and Mme. Helene Baltrusaitis whom you already know, I have been given the privilege of showing a few examples of recent work at the American Cultural Center (October 14th through November 15th, 1971). It would give me great pleasure if you could find the time to drop over and catch the show. I should like to know your opinion of the paintings.

I was sorry to have missed seeing your gallery this summer. You were closed when I arrived, but I was told by one of your artists--Zuka--what a delight it is. Since Grand Central Moderns closed, I have been represented by the Alonzo Gallery here in New York, and by the Fairweather-Hardin Gallery in Chicago.

I am also enclosing an up-to-date copy of my bio-data which may be of interest to you. I look forward to hearing from you.

Most sincerely,

Robert Reid.
