Dear Bob:

Please excuse such a late note but, as you may know, I have been out of town several times lately besides being on the shelf so much when at home! Your package of water colors which came to Barrington went to the Gallery unopened and I have only just now had the opportunity to have a look.

The water colors are quite subtle and though I find them interesting, I'm very much afraid that we would not be successful with them at this time. They are really the type of work that would interest a collector and with the economy the way it is, many of our people who collect are not buying. We have been doing much more corporate work, an area in which I feel your large oils (acrylics ?) have more potential. Corporate clients seem to be not very interested in buying water colors--instead, for smaller pieces they substitute graphics which are, of course, less expensive.

And so it seems fairer to you that we return the water colors. All of us appreciate your having let us see them. Hope I'll have a chance to see you sometime soon in New York.

With best wishes,
Sally
