I. 1346 Connecticut Ave. N. W. Washington 6, D. C. Gentlemen; We are pleased to note that the Convention is getting under way and the selection of the location for the Convention is now under discussion. We, the Chippewa Indians of Minnesota, respectfully request the N. C. A. I. hold their next Convention in the city of St. Paul; and one of the reasons which should make the Convention a success there is that the greatest emancipator of the North American Indian of the United States lives in that state, Governor Luther W. Youngdahl. As you know he has organised the interstate organization for the purpose of aiding the legislation of the Indian and to give advice to the law-makers of Washington in regards to the best and most efficient method of dealing with the Indian question; he is sympathetic and propounds the Indian question to the legislature every year. Because of his interest in the Indians and the work that he has done, the Chippewa Indians of Minnesota are going to confer an honor upon hum by adopting him into the Chippewa tribe, and we respectfully request all other tribes in the United States to join with us in adopting him as the greatest American Indian chief of all time. <(We expect to put on the greatest and biggest Indian pow-wow that has ever been held in America,) and because of the central location of St. Paul, the Eastern Indians will have an opportunity of joining with the Western Indians at this Convention.> The president of the Interstate Council, Mr. Leirfallem, resides in the city of St. Paul; and his prestige and advice will aid you greatly in solving some of the interstate problems we Indians have. If the Convention is held in St. Paul, the Indians of the Southwest will have an opportunity to see the forested areas of Minnesota and the numerous lakes and streams, and will have an opportunity of tasting some of the Indian fare of the Northwest. I believe, all in all, the selection of St. Paul, as a Convention site would be to the best interest of all the Indians. Therefore, we respectfully request that you consider St. Paul high on the agenda of your Convention cities. Very truly yours, [[signature]] Ed M. Wilson Pres. Mr. Ed. M. Wilson
