Mrs. Helen L. Peterson
Executive Secretary, N. C. A. I.
City and County Building
Denver, Colorado

Dear Helen:
In answer to some of my questions D'Arcy replied that you had been appointed the Executive Secretary of the National Congress of American Indians, recently. Congratulations! The National Congress is to be congratulated because (they)or it has gained. I don't know how much you have gained but definitely the National Congress has gained a very fine and worthwhile Secretary. I hope you will like your new job. D'Arcy gave you a very fine recommendation.
Now, my first question is this: What are the dates for the NCAI convention? D'Arcy wrote that you were working on the Convention plans and that Salt Lake City would be the place but the dates in November had not yet been determined. By the time you receive this letter perhaps you will have settled on the dates. Why? Because I wish to attend the convention but I should know which side of the country to start from, whether to go to Oklahoma via Salt Lake City and return via the Navajo reservation or reverse my trip and visit the Navajo reservation first. My meeting in Oklahoma is November 2, and if I miss that then it will have to be in December. The dates for the Navajo reservation are adjustable so lang as I don't get there too late and the snows will prevent us from getting out on the reservation. D'Arcy said the workshop would be held at Crown Point in October. I can't get there because I'm waiting here to visit with the new Commissioner on October 14.

Will you please write me as soon as you definitely decide on the convention dates or I might have to call Bill Short when I get to Oklahoma and ask him when the convention dates are. If my plans changed and I had to make the November 2 meeting in Oklahoma I would stop off at the Navajo reservation, in October, and then I might not get to the convention. I don't know why NCAI can not plan for their convention months ahead of the date, so persons expecting to attend can better plan their schedules. Club women know our convention dates one year in advance. Please let me hear from you. My membership dues are paid.

P.S. D'Arcy did not say if you were in Denver or Washington
Lam-
