The papers you forwarded to this office the cases of the following named men, are herewith respectfully returned:
(1) Harry Borden, (2) Ceasus Middleton, (3) Ransom Lane (4) Jarvis Jackson (5) Virgil Havens (6) David Simmons (7) Edward Haskins (8) Henry Crumbe.
The applicants failed to state in their declarations what was claimed. If these men claim bounty, evidence that they were free on or before April 19th 1861, will be required to establish their claims. Claims for bounty under the Joint Resolutions approved June 15th and July 26th 1866, and that approved July 28th 1866, (Equalizations Act) should not be forwarded until instructions to that effect shall have been issued from this office, as the Department in this City will not receive any claims under the Resolutions and Act referred to payment of some Saving fund stopped by orders of the War Department.
