who accept the "logic of events" and are cooperating with me in adjusting the new relations on the basis of impartial justice. I regret that there are many in the South who do not accept the conclusions of the strife and who yet fail to recognise the fact that the country is in earnest in asking guarantees of Freedom; but the cause may be set down as "marching on"
