Having been long connected with Colored Troops, and feeling a strong desire to promote the interests of the Colored Race among us, and believing the Freedmens Bureau a means to this end, I would respectfully forward my name a candidate for any position which you may see fit to assign me in Bureau.
I entered the service in 14th Inf Vols in 1861. Served in this Regt until the occupation of Port Hudson La by Federal Troops when I identified myself with Colored Troops among whom I served since
