States that Bvt. Maj. Genl M.K. Lawler purchased in August the Fashion plantation in East. Baton Rouge, at a Sheriff's sale in violation of military orders, knowing the plantation to be held by the Bureau as abandoned, and upon his application for possession Genl. Canby decided that the sale conveyed no title the Court having no jurisdiction the title being in the United States, as shown by enclosed official copies of endorsements.
