Chicago Ill.
Nov. 4th, 1865,

To the President of the "Freedman's Bureau".
Sir
I have read in two or three newspapers - notices - that Industrial Schools for the Freedmen are being established by the "Freedman's Bureau" and being desiring to obtain a position as teacher of the freedman. I hasten to you and make application for a situation as above named. If you have a position to offer me - I can take it any day. I have taught in New Hampshire & Massachusetts for five years, with success, and have testimonials, which will be satisfactory to you. I've had no doubt. Will you be kind enough to reply to this soon as convenient - and if possible to assist me - hope you
