Maj. Genl. Baird, by I Irvin Gregg Bvt. Col. and Inspr. Genl. La. writes that this is the first official communication on this subject, although the Gen'l. had seen comments of the Press on the subject. That they were arrested by the City Police, and handed over to the Bureau with charges, and were confined until these charges could be investigated. Their arrest was an infringement of their rights as citizens, and subversive of every principle of Justice.
