Forwards letter from Lieut Edward Ehrlich, Asst. Supt. &c. Amite City La. enclosing memorandum of personal property owned by Emily Brown (colored) which was handed to him with an application to settle upon Govt. lands; - with remark that he presumes there are public lands in La. subject to entry under the Homestead Law & that negroes may settle upon there as well as whites and that he desires information Wrapper (2 Enclosures) file.
