SENATE.

AN ACT
To punish, in certain cases, the Employers of Laborers or Apprentices.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate 
2 and House of Representatives of the State of       3 Louisiana in General Assembly convened, 
4 That hereafter any person who shall em-
5 ploy any laborer or apprentice who is 
6 already under contract for service for 
7 any period of time, to any other person, 
8 and before such time of service shall have
9 expired, so as to deprive such first em-
10 ployer of the services of such laborer or        11 apprentice, shall be deemed and held 
12 guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall, upon         13 conviction thereof, before any court of competent 14 jurisdiction, be punished by a fine of not 
15 less than ten nor more than five hundred
16 dollars for each and every offence, or           17 imprisonment in the Parish Jail for a 
18 period not exceeding thirty days-at the 
19 discretion of the Court-and shall be 
20 liable for damages to the party injured.

SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, &c., That 
2 any person who shall discharge from his 
3 employment any laborer or apprentice, 
4 during the term of service agreed upon 
5 between such employer and such laborer 
6 or apprentice, or, at the expiration of
