AN ACT
To provide for the punishment of persons tampering with, persuading or enticing away, harboring, feeding or secreting laborers or apprentices.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the Senate
2 and House of Representatives of the State of
3 Louisiana in General Assembly convened,
4 That any one who shall persuade or
5 entice away, feed, harbor, or secrete any
6 person who leaves his or her employer
7 with whom she or he has contracted, or
8 is assigned to live, or any apprentice who
9 is bound as an apprentice, without the
10 permission of his or her employer, said
11 person or persons, so offending, shall be
12 liable for damages to the employer; and,
13 also, upon conviction thereof, shall be
14 subject to pay a fine of not more than five
15 hundred dollars, nor less than ten, or
16 imprisonment in the Parish Jail for not
17 more than twelve months, nor less than
18 ten days, or both, at the discretion of the
19 Court.
Sec. 2. Be it further enacted, &c., That
2 it shall be the duty of the Judges of this
3 State to give this Act especially in charge
4 to the Grand Juries at each Jury term of
5 their respective Courts.
