I have the honor to enclose a request to the War Department for my assignment to duty in the Freedmen's Bureau and would most respectfully beg that your endorse favorably the said request and transmit the same to the Adjt Genl of the Army.
I enclose a letter from Brig Genl F.G. Pitcher Comdg the District of Indiana (addressed to yourself)
I would also respectfully refer you to the enclosed certified copies of orders in my case, which show the nature of the duties I have performed since my appointment in the Vet. Res. Corps, (Dec 8 1863) during the first fifteen (15) months.
