Respectfully referred to Maj Genl O O Howard Commissioner of Freedmens Bureau with the information that the within is but one of my many earnest remonstrances daily received at this office against the further toleration of the gross abuses committed under the pretended sanction of law and the authority of the Government by its compt agents

There will be a thorough investigation and all such abuses corrected as far as possible

Respectfully referred to Col Samuel Thomas Ass't Comr, an endorsement of the President of the US dated Aug 16th 1865 upon an application of Mr B B Lenke of Nashville Tenn directs that in cases where property is claimed by persons who have received his pardon it is to be restored to them

Property claimed by persons who prove upon investigation to be, and to have been loyal, is of course to be restored at once.
