I called on Professor Douglas, filling one of the chairs in the school to ascertain on what terms if any the building could be secured for the present Winter and longer if possible. He said he would call the Board together and lay my suggestions before them and do all in his power to secure the buildings for our Bureau.
On what terms the buildings can be controlled through the Board of Trustees will be sent to you as soon as heard from by Surgeon Hussey at that place. It is a fine location and of great interest to us to secure the same. One of the buildings is used for an Orphan Asylum under the supervision of Mrs. Reed. The children are kept clean and are contented, being provided with a good home and kind protection. They are instructed every day and show marks of rapid advancement. There are 39 children at present in the home. All orphans are quite young.
