I have the honor herewith to transmit for the information of the Ass't Comm'r, copies of reports from Lt. B. K. Johnston, Sub Comm'r at Grenada, Miss, and from Lt. S. D. Barnes, Sub Comm'r, at Columbus Miss. concerning alleged negro insurrection; also a communication from Lt. Johnston in regard to freedmen causes - enclosing affidavit of freedmen and letter from  G. D. Purcell, Justice of the Peace.
