71 & 73 Worth St. New York 26 Feby 1866 Mess Nicklin & Eakin Chattanooga Tenn Dear Sirs We are in receipt of yours of 3rd Inst informing us that you had written to the U.S. Attorney General in ny and to our property requiring of us certain documents in order to get it from the Freedmans Bureau. We have procured what you [[strikethrough]] desired [[/strikethrough]] wish and herein inclose them for your action viz a copy of our Deed certified by Comr Jones & the affidavit from L. Edgerton touching loyalty &c &c all which we hope may prove satisfactory & cause the release of our property at once. As we think such property will advance in value soon we are not disposed to accept the offer of $2500 and wish you to take out a Policy of Insurance against in a good office if there is such with you for a year at what you think the building is worth collect the rent remit proceeds & inform us what rent hereafter can be had.
