Nashville Sept 8th 1865

Dear Sir
I am the owner of the ground on Church Street near the U.F. Academy - & east of the small brick house which is the first brick house east of the Academy wall. The following tenements are on the ground thus owned - Beginning from brick house- 1st Drinking Saloon & Restaurant,- 2d Clothing Store- 3d Ale house bottled wines & liquors- 4th Booth Varieties, 5th Drinking Saloon-

The property extends North to Union Street embracing all the unenclosed land North of the above described tenements.
This property was not abandoned by me & is in no sense confiscable- because of my absence in the South-

On the 24th of June 1865 I took Pres. Johnson's amnesty oath & was thereby restored to all my rights as a citizen of the United States, & of course to the right to possess this property. Aware the business of the Government required time, I have waited patiently up the present date. I now respectfully apply to you to restore to me the possession of the above propety - according to the rules usual in such cases.
Yours with
Great Respt
C.D. Elliott
