Your petitioner Joseph Etter respectfully represents that he is the owner of two tracts of land situated in the 19th civil district of Greene County Tenn., one of said tracts containing one hundred acres more or less adjoining the land of John Ribler, Peter Cobble & others: the other [[strikethrough]] adjoin [[/strikethrough]] consisting of twelve acres adjoining the lands of Elijah others.

Said lands have heretofore been seised by the agent of the Freedmans Bureau during the year just closed.  Said lands have been attached under process from the United States District Court for the District of East Tennessee in a proceeding by information to complicate the same for alleged participation of your petitioner in the late rebellion

Your petitioner admits that he was favorable in sentiment towards the cause of the rebellion but he denies that he took any active part therein and on the 9th day of April 1866 the President of the United
