3.

the development of art for the Chicano artist...
(How?) the development consists of the execution of works since...

could we call what we are doing an art institute?
in that we are producing art works - we are banded together as a project to produce art works.

contributing to the community as a WHOLE....

Could we take the Bauhaus approach and state that what we do is UNIVERSAL - it takes no consideration of time or space? but does that destroy the spontanuity of art? are we secure in our environment? obviously no.
CHICANO ART IS DIFFERENT

A STATEMENT

we are striving for self-expression
desire documentation of Chicanismo at the early important stages....

we are revolutionizing tradition in that we are disassociating with tradition through introspection and personal evaluation...

Mel: We realize that we cannot perpetuate or identify with the bluebonnet school...

Fel: involved in process of research into our identity through visual means...

Mel: visual congruity will in turn give us psychic harmony (in turn a statement of our human condition)

Mel: we are iconoclasts, not by choice but by circumstance - we are out to destroy stereotypes and demolish visual cliches...seeking a newer, purer form.

WE REJECT THE PREDETERMINED VALUES OF AN ALIEN CULTURE

WE SEEK AUTONOMY, SOVEREIGNTY, AND SELF-DETERMINATION
