him. This is a dilemma I also haven't resolved. Part of the solution lies in simply doing my work. We must raise the quality of our art. We must mold the stepping stones of this process. Universities serve to brainwash. This is part of the systematic cultural imperialism that makes the gringo in each and every Chicano seem bigger. Universities help to divide Chicanos. Gringos say you are different because you have a degree. Separation paves the road for a more easier elimination. Separation or division is a type of candy-coated arsenic. Universities as a whole have no relationship to the barrio and the pathetic thing is that very few Chicanos are aware of this fact.■
