Refers enclosed voucher for Freedmen hospital at Vicksburg Miss with two single and seven duplicates accounts, with their request that Genl Howard indicate his determination as to the continuance of the various hospitals names in the enclosed abstract of hospitals in Dept of Miss; also his views concerning the payment of the enclosed seven accounts. (Nine encl0) | Oct 9. 1865 Resp'y ret'd. Col Thomas Ass't Com'r of Miss has been directed to continue no more hospitals than are absolutely necessary to accommodate the sick. I would recommend the payment of these vouchers out of the Hosp. Fund already accrued, and that the am't of $3.758.98/100 the fund of Hosp. No 2 at Vicksburg (discontinued) be transferred to the Hosp. under charge of Dr Chas. A. Foster at Vicksburg known as the Freeedmen's and Refugees Hospital. sd. O O Howard Maj Gen Comr |
