There is a tax sale & sale of confiscated property going on in Norfolk  I have asked to have the sale suspended of lands used by the Military or by the contraband bureau - Genl Shepley informs me that the Secretary has ordered that the sale of such lands be suspended & a list be furnished of them - As this order did not reach me in time please inform the tax commissioner that the sales must all be suspended till this list can be furnished him & if necessary stop the sale by force
