upholsterers where I ordered an overfed mammoth of a [?] for Papa.  The upholsterer thought that a thing like that would cost a "[[?]]" and it took his breath away when I ordered it with the most expensive covering he had.  The whole business was about $50-.  Poor Papa had a stiff dining room chair for ordinary rest in his room and writes on a rickety old serving table.  So I bought a decent desk for him for another $25-.  He will spit fire when he sees these things but he will get used to them and eventually like them.  He had sold his very good furniture when he left Vienna and contented himself with next to nothing.

Then we took care of Maura:  for the voyage to Oscar and the expected Sea bathing we bought dust cloaks, suits etc., for very little money a big list of articles.
