Dear George Biddle -

I have delayed writing to you because [[strikethrough]] hitherto there was nothing new that I could report about [[/strikethrough]] I could tell of no important development regarding the appointment of "the Chief Mural Painter".

However, at the last [[strikethrough]] membership [[/strikethrough]] meeting of the Society of Mural Painters we [[strikethrough]] recommended to [[/strikethrough]] the recommendation was made to our representatives to the Coordination Com. of the World's Fair, that they stress the importance of the part that several leading artists societies, including the Mural Painters, have endorsed the candidacy of G.S. as chief Mural Painter and therefore, that endorsement should be carefully considered by the Board of Design. (which has the power to appoint the C.M.P). Whether such representation was made or not I can not say, but I learned that Plat O. Kahn is one of the prime movers, the leading spirit, on the Board of Design. I have known him some years past and I though I'd go to see him. I told him how we felt about the appointment of a Chief Mural Painter, about your nomination etc. and he was very sympathetic. It seemed to please him that have so many artists agree on a single representative and said that as far as he was concerned the choice was a good one. I gathered he knows you pretty well. (then I took off the antler of representation for the Congress, Painters Sculptors Gravers and the artist congress, these important organizations have no direct representation on the [[?]] [[?]])

I expect to hear fires during the coming week. He thought by then, he would tell me how the other members of the Board of Design felt about these recommendations. I'll send to you as soon as I learn any thing
