There was something about the hanging of the Cezanne's that interfered with my enjoyment of them. I still feel he is very great - & I did enjoy looking at certain of them - The self portrait - the card players & the landscape with a bridge particularly. All three of these hung with a good deal of light on them. Perhaps his paintings don't give out their own light as many others do - very close relations in color & value - not much jumping.

The Renoirs were beautiful. A young girl with a cat - pearls of flesh tones. A lovely landscape. The boy pierrot very charming put a little acid. Some bathers that I didn't like - & the dancer lent by Widener that was a marvel. Very fascinating in its envelopement & vibration - & jacked up by black notes at neck & wrist. Perfectly delicious pale pink & blue & grey white. And the little girl that I enclose notes of on another
