& the surviving members - the Williams - Mrs. Murray - Seymour & Bill & Annie sat down to ham & eggs - home was reached at 2.30. Everyone was in fine form - particularly Gifford - he was on the crest of the wave - in a gay light suit - he shone & was most witty. The cocktails went to everyones' head pretty completely - but we all had a gay time - All good mixers.
Slept all Sunday morn - & cooked a beefsteak lunch for the boys & Seymour - Oggie didn't come - at the last minute - he was on Staten Island or someplace with Donald Bixlee - So we three ate the huge lunch (breakfast it was too) And had a gay conversation. After which Seymour & I rode on the top of the bus - (another spring day) to the Metropolitan museum. Where we concentrated upon pictures- Saw the Italian primitives- I don't think we have a very superior group - one grand giotto & sous fire Byzantine.

Transcription Notes:
Italian primitives = early Italian painters; Sous Fire Byzantine = Greek Fire/painting?
