Your four weeks [[strikethrough]] of [[/strikethrough]] old letter has found
us [[strikethrough]] at Venice [[/strikethrough]] Charley and I at Venise and it gave us pleasure to receive it when one is in a foreign
country a like yours inviting us to the childrens play increases in value

We have been here for about four weeks
taking in all the sights it is the same Venise but it does not seem to have
the [[strikethrough]] same [[/strikethrough]] attraction for me when I was here ten years ago

We staid at the famous case Frollo for about a week (on the Giudecca) and mostly all the sourounding palaces are turned in coal yards and manufactories etc.

The Campanile is up again still sourrounded in some parts by scaffolding and what I see of it looks awfully new

Charley has been Italie about three months and starts for home about the first of October

I arrived here on the in Italie about the fourteenth August and will probably stay until
