Yes, the double portrait and the dream or . . . .Yes, but the pictures that affected me in my painting the most were the ones that he did in 50. The less, what I call literary--or figurative--symbolic pictures.

Well, I think that after doing a number of pictures this way I found that some were better than others. And some led me to newer corners. (?) that I did a whole series that I felt had to do with landscapes. Then I did a series that had to do with nothing except color blotches. Then I did a sort of muddy series of paintings that had a very muddy dead quality but somehow next to other colors and put in certain places had a marvelous light.
