Dear Larry:

A good time was had by all, certainly by all. Norma and Myself certainly cannot thank you and Barbara enough. We are very happy over the way in which you and Barbara have your pictures presented. I am certain you both gave the matter a great deal of thought.

The flight to Chicago was fine. About 10 blocks away from where we were staying a roof was blown off, rather a grim sight. We paid a visit to the Art Institute. On the whole their American Collection looks very well. Two Marin watercolors and an oil are on view, very good examples. This leads me to something else. You also have a major Museum in Detroit; really an unusual spot. But it does not own a Marin. I am certain the Detroit Museum is the only major Museum in the country without a Marin painting. An extremely important selection should be part of its Collection. Beyond any doubt, it is one of our largest art centers.

Larry, we would like very much to be with you and Barbara on the evening of the 29th. As we told you we have two guests on our hands. One is the grand niece of Alfred Stieglitz, a great lover of Marin, knew Marin, is one of my closest friends; her friend is a young art dealer in New York. You should meet them both. We would like very much to bring them with us.

Again - I had a great weekend with you people.

The Best to You Both

Your friend
John
