Born in Buffalo, New York 1913
Studied at Columbia College (B.A. 1935); National Academy 1936; with Francis Criss, Carl Holty 1936-1937; and the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University 1945-51. 
Worked on Federal project 1936-39. Photographer for the U.S. Navy 1944-45. On newspaper staff of "PM" 1944-47.
Visiting Critic and Professor at Yale School of Fine Arts 1952-53.
Professor at Brooklyn College having taught there since 1947.
Member: American Abstract Artists since 1937.
