Betty Parsons Gallery

New York, New York

Dear Miss Parsons:

We have your letter of May 24 regarding the damage to the Reinhardt while in our gallery. We, too, are very sorry that it was damaged and sincerely want to have it repaired as soon and as efficiently as possible,

Our insurance company, E. Quincy Smith Inc., 1418 H Street N.W., Washington, D. C., was notified at the time of the accident, and while a description of the damage done was given to them, we did not know how to estimate the cost of repairing since it primarily concerned the surface of the paint and will probably be retouched by Mr. Reinhardt himself.

In an effort to expedite this claim, since our gallery will be closed after June 1, we have arranged to have you contact Miss Doris Thompson at E. Quincy Smith Inc. direct. If you will write to her, she will go ahead with the claim. She knows all about this and is expecting your letter.

We want to thank you for permitting us to borrow the paintings from your Gallery for our show. They added greatly to its effectiveness. The show was well received, and attendance was large so that we feel it was definitely a success.

Yours very truly,

Helene McKinsey
