Mr. Joseph Cornell
3708 Utopia Parkway
Flushing 58, New York

Dear Mr. Cornell:

The enclosed check is for $500 due on the sale of Uncertainty Principle I for $750.

We have told Mr. Janss that the Mica Magritte II which is in the Museum of Modern Art's travelling exhibition has been withdrawn from sale, but that you may consider selling it at the end of the show. I said that Where Does the Sun Go At Night? could not be lent to him, but that under the circumstances you would sell this collage for $800 instead of $900.

We have the engraving plate for your exhibition of collages, but, unfortunately, the Robert Cornell announcement was printed by photo-offset lithography. This process uses a composition plate which disintegrates rapidly and, therefore, it has not survived.

Regards,

Robert Schoelkopf
