Miss Marjorie Ruben
Director, Special Exhibits
Peale House
1811 Chestnut Street
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 18103

Dear Miss Ruben:

I am sorry to have taken so long to reply to your inquiry about a Joseph Cornell show. Unfortunately, I was ill for several weeks.

I gather that you have communicated with Mr. Cornell. Perhaps he has told you that he finds the pressure of another exhibition too much to plan for at this time. (The Retrospective of his work at the Guggenheim is imminent.)

I am sorry to disappoint you in this endeavor.

Sincerely,

Robert Schoelkopf
