Janss Corporation

Wilshire and Westwood Boulevards
Los Angeles, California

Dear Mr. Janss:

Mr. Cornell finally returned from holiday, and I had a long talk with him. It appears that I must renege on the letter I sent you January 4, 1967.

First of all, Mr. Cornell is unhappy that we sent the Mica Magritte II to the exhibition and has notified the Museum of Modern Art that it is not to sell that collage. He professes great fondness for the Mica Magritte II at this time, but says that he may consider selling it at the end of the exhibition.

Mr. Cornell will not permit us to lend Where Does the Sun Go at Night, priced at $900, but says that under the circumstances he will permit me to sell it to you for $800.

I know that all this is quite arbitrary and most un-businesslike, but Mr. Cornell often changes his mind about these things, and just as frequently reverses himself.

Sincerely,

Robert Schoelkopf
