Mr. Joseph Cornell
3708 Utopia Parkway
Flushing 58, New York

Dear Mr. Cornell:
The exhibition at the Guggenheim was a pleasure to behold. Not least significant was the recognition it implicitly accords - albeit belatedly.
Mr. Janss was in California, and agreed to the terms you asked me to set forth in writing to him: He has agreed to purchase Where does the Sun go at Night? for $800, and to pay $1000 for Mica Magritte II (to be delivered at the end of the Museum of Modern Art's Travelling Exhibition). What is more, he paid for both purchases while here. Enclosed is our check for two-thirds of $1800, ie. $1200.
Sincerely,
Robert Schoelkopf
