two J.G.
Robert Cornell, Joseph Cornell and Douglas Gorsline
(Schoelkpf, 825 Madison) :
Charming, child-like drawings of birds, mice and rabbits by
Joseph Cornell's late younger brother attest to a keen sense
of playful innocence that is as
immediate as it is endearing.
A mysterious set of the older
Cornell's collages serve as an arresting contrast. The paintings
of Gorsline combine detailed
realism with disquieting
juxtapositions in perspective
They make for provocative
viewing. J.G.
