shown here are playful works. The one in the center, 18 inches high, resembles the facade of a 19th Century building. The rectilinear grid is given a staid grace by the curved arches, the painted circles and the wooden balls which roll about freely when the box is tilted. The box at right, 21 inches high, suggests a shooting gallery in a penny arcade. When a ball is dropped into the slot on the upper right side, it rolls down an inclined runway, setting the birds bobbing and the bills ringing.
