always had to keep it in order and see that the flowers were kept moist in the summer time, it always had been [[strikeout]]was my[[/strikeout]] greatest pleasure to take care of them.

When I and my sister were about eight years old, we grew very fond of the water and liked it more and more each day; once our father took us out sailing which we enjoyed very much; since that time I and my sister tried to persuade our mother to let us [[strikeout]]if we could not[[/strikeout]] go out rowing alone, we would be very careful and only go along the shore, but our mother had always been very much afraid of the water, and feared that something might happen, [[strikeout]]and[[/strikeout]] so she would not let us go; to console ourselves we went to the bank and took our shoes and stocking off, and paddled in the water.


When I grew older I decided to be a sailor, and ejoyed me first trips very much. I had one very bad adventure which I shall now relate.

We [[strikeout]]were[[/strikeout]] had been on the ocean [[strikeout]]already[[/strikeout]] three or four days, as I can remember; the evening of the fourth was very dark and dreary, the water had grown very rough, and we had a very bad under current which made the ship rock [[strikeout]]very much[[/strikeout]].
