Hamburger HOF [[stamp]] ARCHIVES OF AMERICAN ART [[/stamp]] Mrs. Peter Voohrees 5-59 Hamburg, Sept 25 1891 Dear Ed, We came here last night to hear Tannhäuser given by Alvary & Frau Klafsky we all were very much excited to hear A again and whether he had improved or what, it was grand and K & A played grandly, und wir schwärmten wieder ein mal -- -- --. We were going to Berlin but have given up the idea and besides have so much on hand in Bremen that I expect to be dead [[strikethrough]] almost [[/strikethrough]] before we get off, the thing is everything gets so late, when we have our cousins for supper und wir leben in einer [[??]][[??]] / Mary birthdays is tomorrow and we are going to have a party of 16, & play at four tables, we had quite a time getting prizes for this grand occasion - you will have two minstrel sisters by the time we get home Mary a banjo & I a Volkshafer don't get frightened over my attempt for I will leave you in peace, but it is great fun playing on it - - I am still sleepy - last night we dined at eleven & I won't be surprised in the least if we should manage to do it still later once. We visited uncle Ferdinand who seemed very happy that day but he has ups & downs, last Sunday we drove to uncle Alex - who was very well and we enjoyed plundering his garden, gathering fruit. Cousin E shook the trees for us & we had a gay time, he had that is uncle had painted again & it was really a charming picture - - - Adolf Dreier told me to tell
